AI Form Response Types

An overview of the different response types available in an AI Form response page.

The AI Form Response Page is the experience students see immediately after submitting an AI Form. This page can be fully customized to deliver a traditional, controlled message or a highly personalized, AI-generated response—depending on your goals. Below is a complete walkthrough of the Response Page from top to bottom.

Page Branding

  • The top of the response page automatically displays:
    • Your institution’s logo
    • Your primary brand colors as the page background
  • Branding is inherited from the Branding / Design settings in the Halda app.

Intro Message

  • The intro message will always begin with:
    “Thank you, {name}!”
  • This text cannot be edited.
  • The color of {name} can be customized by:
    • Navigating to Branding / Design
    • Updating the Button Color setting under navigation

Response Types Overview

There are two primary response formats available:

  1. Traditional Response
  2. AI Generated Response

You can toggle between these options within the Response Page editor.

1. Traditional Response

A Traditional Response provides full editorial control over the content shown to students.

Top Paragraph

  • The response begins with a Top Paragraph
  • This area supports:
    • Rich text formatting
    • Images
    • Tables
  • You have complete control over styling, layout, and content
  • Switch to code view to have even more control
  • This is also where you can toggle between Traditional and AI Generated responses

Question Responses

When using a Traditional Response, each question in the form can be configured with one of the following response types:

  • Dynamic
  • Static
  • None

Dynamic Response

A Dynamic Response displays content that adapts based on:

  • The student’s selected answers
  • Conditional logic you configure within the form

This option allows for personalization while still using predefined content.

Static Response

A Static Response displays the same message to every student, regardless of how they answered the question.

This is useful for:

  • Consistent messaging
  • Compliance-related content
  • General informational responses

None

Selecting None means no response content will be shown for that question.

This is recommended when:

  • A question is only used for data collection
  • The response is handled elsewhere on the page
  • You want to reduce visual clutter

2. AI Generated Response

The AI Generated Response allows Halda to create a complete, personalized response automatically.

  • Content can be:
    • Written manually, or
    • Generated by AI using custom instructions

  • The AI is aware of:
    • All form questions
    • Answer choices selected by the student
  • Responses adapt dynamically to each submission

For guidance on writing effective prompts, refer to the AI Prompting Best Practices article.

Form Response Components

Within the Response Page, you can insert additional response elements to enhance personalization and functionality.

Equation

  • Equations provide Excel-like functionality
  • They allow you to calculate and display outputs based on:
    • Form questions
    • Answer selections
  • Common use cases include:
    • Scholarship estimations
    • Eligibility logic
    • Scoring or recommendation outputs

For details, see the Using Equations in AI Forms article.

Text Area

  • A flexible content block similar to:
    • Top Paragraph
    • CTA Paragraph
  • Can be placed:
    • Above question responses
    • Between equations
    • Anywhere within the response layout

Promo Code

Promo Codes display a code to students after they submit a form.

Use cases

  • Application fee waivers
  • Discounts
  • Promotional incentives

Configuration options

  • Name the promo code
  • Choose a Promo Code Type:
    • Static
    • Dynamic
